Why Scott Brown?
Scott Brown won the Massachusetts Senate vacancy over Coakley. He won handily in a state where Ted Kennedy, the liberal progressive lion, ruled for decades. Some would be over heard to say Kennedy rode the wave on his family name. Yet I hear some of my fiends in the Tea party movement Chastise me for throwing the"PSC towel" in for Scott. So what gives? I think it's time for a small dose of clarification... I like my friends dearly.
Scott Brown is a Republican in a Democrat state. This in itself is no small task to master, when you need to vote conservative, yet try to make friends; attempting to do the right thing when it comes to staying popular with the voters. Giuliani had the same tenure as Mayor of New York, taking heat from both sides, while trying to do the right thing. At least Guliani didn't masquerade as a progressive in Republican clothes as does Bloomberg! So what turns some on the right against Brown? It seems he has voted party lines a good 90% of the time. He has voted no on most key issues, such as Immigrant elligibilty and needles for drug addicts. He has voted for a resolution defining marriage... man and woman. What more could a conservative want?
Honestly? The real problem lies with some votes which can be construed as leaning towards big government. Again, look at the state he is in. Yet, other votes will confirm a willingness to put money into the hands of the small business class with a sales tax holiday. So what gives? My point is this... regardless of whether he voted a small percentage of times in tandem with his democratic colleagues; the majority of his voting record has been conservative. Don't believe me, do an internet search for yourself!
Besides, who would you rather have in this spot anyway? Martha Coakley, a progressive boot-licker? I see the crux of the matter coming to the point that third party candidates don't seem to get much attention. The notion that if a libertarian doesn't get the nod to run, then the Republican must be corrupt concept, just doesn't hold water in my view. Sorry. The reality of the matter is that we are a two party system and if we want to retake the Republican party, then we need candidates to run, who have our beliefs. This is already underway.
Let's focus on cleaning the progressive socialists out of both parties and replace them with people who hold our constitutional values and our morals. Scott brown is not perfect, but he is the best choice made by far. Besides, as a Lt. Colonel in the National Guard he is someone who has more discipline and training than most... more than I can say for our "Community Organizer"-in-Chief, Oba-Mao.
