Suffering from Newt Derangement Syndrome?
By Bill Miller
It is amazing that many establishment supporters don’t know
that they are "Establishment Supporters." It is an amazing phenomenon
to the rest of us. If you are suffering from Newt Derangement Syndrome, you are
most assuredly an "establishment type"; sorry to shatter your
illusions or are they delusions.
Look at poor Ann Coulter; she appears to be as irrational as
Nancy Pelosi or Debbie Wassermann Schultz. She is name calling the majority of
voters in South Carolina in Bill Maher style; she has her panties in a tighter
wad then Chris Christie does. Guess what
America? Coulter is suffering from an
elitist disease, because she knows what is better for you than you do. This
disease is called Newt Derangement Syndrome.
Recently Ann Coulter wrote a book on the mob mentality of
the left. Now like some modern day Robespierre, she wants to lead the Committee
of Public Safety and send her conservative brethren off to the National Razor.
How dare we question the beltway wisdom! What impudence we
must have!
Can she actually mean what she say’s when she says, "Mitt
Romney is the most conservative candidate left of the four running." This
Romney guy has not only neglected to reach out to the conservative base; he has
avoided Tea Party groups like they have the Bubonic plague. I know of some groups that actually support
him and he never has time to visit these groups or in some cases to even reply
to their requests. He has never ever reached out to any conservatives.
This Coulter woman is becoming completely unhinged, she may
need medication.
She is willing to sell out God for the Progressive
Establishment in The Republican Party.
Coulter where is your faith in the individual? The hard
working God fearing individuals you’ve always said you were an advocate for?
Have you lost the ability to have a leap of faith?
Ann Coulter isn’t the only one. Karl Rove, Bret Hume, Chris Christie, I
believe Romney himself, has a mild case of it. Numerous "insiders"
are suffering from the same disease.
Coulter thinks this Chris Christie guy is conservative.
Chris Christie! Nothing can be further from the truth. He is a Progressive
Republican, he certainly isn’t a conservative. Guess what Ann, no matter how
many times you say it, he will still be a Progressive Republican, just like
Romney will be a Moderate, like it or not, you will never convince anyone
otherwise.
Ironically, one of the best lines from Governor Huntsman,
while he was still in the race, was when he heard that McCain was supporting
Romney "Surprise, another establishment type." Then Huntsman
proved that what he was too (an establishment type) by dropping out of the race
and endorsing Romney immediately.
Sarah Palin, on hearing Chris Christie’s attack on Gingrich
as an "Embarrassment to the Party", Called his tirade an
amateurish mistake made by the inexperienced, when their candidate suffered a setback
and suggested he "un-Wad his panties" and get back to serious
work. The same could be said of Coulter, "get
your big girl panties on, deary."
It is clear to all that Santorum is the most conservative of
the three; he has his blemishes also, Prescription Drug, voting against the
Right to Work etc. . . but,
he is undoubtedly conservative, double Romney. Santorum is slightly more
conservative then Gingrich but he isn’t as capable of articulating it and
particularly articulating it with passion.
We can agree to disagree. I do with many of my Tea Party friends on
specific issues sometimes more often on tactics or strategy and even on
candidates. What Coulter is displaying is leftist arrogance and vehemence.
Sarah Palin said, "We are independent minded people
and are tired of our candidates being picked through the filter of the
media."
We are also not about to let those same party insiders, who
have betrayed conservative principles again, pick a candidate beholden to them.
Gingrich wants to be partners with us. He has said it time
and again, that is what the Tea Party wants to hear.
I believe any one of the four candidates would be an
improvement over Barack Obama. I also believe any one of them would beat Obama.
However, as for me, I personally would choose Romney last because he is
supported by the establishment.
Rush Limbaugh is correct. You establishment types have been contaminated
by the liberal sickness; you have no faith.
If one believes in Natural Law, the idea that we each have a
personal eternal relationship with Providence, then one must trust the
individual. Are all the conservatives, evangelicals, Tea Party adherents in
South Carolina wrong? Are they in
Florida too?
Limbaugh was point on when he said that Gingrich was showing
the best ability to articulate conservatism.
Meanwhile, on the Sean Hannity Show last night, when Senator
Fred Thompson endorsed Gingrich, tonight he again used the word, articulate.
Gingrich can deliver conservatism in these desperate times.
Thompson, who besides being a former United States Senator
ran in the 2008 Presidential election, began with news that the country is in
far worse shape than is generally known.
"I think we’re in deep trouble. I think were in more
trouble than most people do. Even these numbers that come out of Washington and
look so bleak are understated. They are based on faulty projections of growth
and that the nature. . . we have historically low interest rates when those
rates start to come up and we are the largest debtor in the world we are going
to be in additional fix that we can’t bail ourselves out of. . . I think we are
at a tipping point in this country I think there will be more people in the
wagon soon then those pulling the wagon."
Others have reached this same conclusion and they are
willing to fight to retain the nation they were born into.
"People are organizing in hamlets and towns and some
of them call themselves Tea Parties."
Who can this organization of individual citizens turn
towards, who can harness their energy toward restoring the balance to the
republic?
“I Have come to a growing realization for me that Newt
Gingrich is the guy who can articulate what America is all about.
. . about American Exceptionalism who (Gingrich) can make the case not just
with talking points or taking it off a Teleprompter can make case. . . the
basic case for lower taxes being better for everybody and how to bring about
growth. He’s not afraid and he’s tough and experienced I don’t think it’s
enough anymore or to our advantage to say I know nothing about the operation of
the Federal Government. . . I know something about it. . . Newt knows something
about it . . it is a colossal
mess."
After extrapolating on what difficulties the new president
will have, Thompson reminded us about how he got to Washington and whose ideas
were motivating that revolution against the status quo. ". . . He has
conceived a revolution in American politics."
Reminding those conservatives who haven’t committed to join
Newt Gingrich, Thompson closed with this warning and rejoinder, "We
have to stand up to the establishment on both sides of the aisle, to the news
media and carry this thing through. These are different times in America; the
old rules no longer apply."
If we wish to be successful, Thompson believes we should go
against the establishment by joining forces with someone cast out of the
establishment.
Romney himself showed his first real passion during the
debate in Florida tonight and it seemed a bit strained also, (I wouldn’t say it
was deranged in Romney’s case, but definitely strained) much like the liberals
when they "feel" their entitlements slipping away. Romney
, Coulter and Christie believe that Romney is entitled to be the
Republican nominee and are behaving like their liberal establishment
counterparts when they are being deprived.
On the other hand Gingrich conducted himself like a
frontrunner and was well poised, he even got a grudging endorsement from Ron
Paul who was asked if he would support Gingrich as the nominee, ". . .
well he’s talking about the Federal Reserve and sound money. . . if I can get
him over on foreign policy. . ."
Palins, Todd and Sarah (at least in South Carolina),
Michelle Bachmann and Rick Perry, JC Watts for Gingrich, Art Laffler and now Fred Thomson.
While for Romney, it’s John McCain, Chris Christie, the
governors, congressman, senators, all who get cash from the Republican Party,
every Republican machine head and pundit.
One last thing Ann, and all you Newt
Derangement sufferers, if you eliminate Gingrich, I will support Santorum or
Paul. I will only vote for Romney
if it is between him and Obama. I will have to hold my nose again. Mitt Romney
reminds me of the first time I had to hold my nose and vote; that was for Bush
41.
Before that, the only time I voted for President, that was
twice for I got to vote for Ronald Reagan, I did so with my head held high.
Since then I have been ashamed of the Republican Party.
I want to vote for a conservative again.
As for the establishment, I believe Newt derangement syndrome
is just starting to affect them. If Gingrich does become the Republican nominee
for president, I would expect the Newt derangement syndrome to pass from the
entitlement mentality of the Republican machine types, to their ideological
cousins, the Democratic machine types. The syndrome is not catching for
everyone. Those who believe in the
Individual, those who believe in God, those that emulate our Founders are
naturally immune from the sickness. Any
insider though is susceptible to catching it.
